PARTY GIRL ARCHIVE is a collaborative design project between Louisa Menke and Petra Valdimarsdóttir, focusing on the vibrant world of nightlife and the individuals who shape it. The project culminated in the creation of five books over five years, featuring 4,450 photographs from 32 cities across 15 countries.
The origins of this archive trace back to Louisa's early days as a skateboarder and photographer. In 2001, after winning her first European contest, she purchased a digital pocket camera with her prize money. She began documenting the parties she attended, sharing them on a website named partygirlproductions.tk. This practice continued for about five years, during which she amassed a substantial collection of photographs. In 2007, the loss of her website inspired her to create the PARTY GIRL ARCHIVE, aiming to preserve and showcase the vibrant party culture she had been capturing.
